Thomas J. Connolly (PhD, 1986; University of Oregon) is Director Emeritus of the Archaeological Research Division. This unit conducts cultural resource management compliance studies for archaeological and built resources, operates archaeological field schools, and conducts other grant-supported archaeological studies, primarily within Oregon. Tom has done extensive study and dating of ancient fiber artifacts from the western U.S. He has authored or co-authored 15 books and monographs, 50 scholarly articles, and some 680 technical reports documenting cultural resources in Oregon and beyond.
