5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Drop in any time between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. to chat with archaeologists from the museum, the University of Oregon, and other academic institutions. Learn about their research, see artifacts and belongings, and discover how learning about the past can help us understand the present. 

Archaeologists: 

• Todd Braje (MNCH) will discuss coastal archaeology and how deep history can help us understand (and rise to meet) the challenges of today.
• See charcoal and pollen under a microscope with Jaime Kennedy (MNCH) and discuss what it can tell us about people's lives.
• Discover how experimental archaeology is giving us insight into hunting practices from long ago with Andrew Boehm (MNCH).
• Learn about how archaeology and historical preservation are connected with Chris Ruiz (MNCH). 
• Katelyn McDonough (MNCH and University of Oregon), Richie Rosencrance (University of Nevada, Reno), and Jordan Pratt (Texas A&M University) will demonstrate ancient technologies from Oregon and the Great Basin. 
• Learn how island societies thrived in changing ecological conditions with Scott Fitzpatrick (University of Oregon).
